To the Magnificent New East Stand 2008

Page 2 and another season further on!

This is the start of the New extended North stand.

As you will see later this helped increase Sixways to just over 9,000.

I think it was 9,700. Kept below the 10,000 for logistic, legal and cast reasons

The standard view from the side of the press and communications port-a-cabin

As you can see it was considerably smaller than the East Stand

The metal bases for the seats were going in really quickly and they have started to construct the cover

A view along the stand showing how it was fabricated

The roof has started to take shape and looks really foreboding on this horrible wet day

The covering was being stretched over the top of the stand and finally the supporters would stay dry

Almost completed as they start to load in the seats.

I don't think they should have had seats on the very bottom as it is so difficult to see the game from there

Roof on and ready to go

The close season saw the decision to change the shape of the East Stand Superstructure to provide covered bars

The whole seating was removed and solid steel structure to support concrete seat bases were built in

This gave all the space underneath

This was the season we also got the "NEW" grass.

The whole surface was removed and a lattice work nylon sheet was placed down and then covered in a mix of sand and soil laid in ridges.

The idea was the grass would dig down and root around the nylon lattice work providing a similar surface to Franklyn's Garden

The agreement with WRFC meant Cecil would build new pitches and changing facilities in exchange for a 125 year lease on the stadium land. Enabling Rugby Trading to negotiate with some big sports Center players

The concrete bases for the seats was completed

Now we started to see the bars being built.

Ended up with a Debenture bar and two "ordinary" supporter's bars

This is the main supporter's Club bar down at the Southern end of the East Stand

may not look much but there has certainly been some beer drunk in here

The East Stand Debenture bar.

This could be classed as packed the amount of use it gets.

A bit of a waste

Here it is the outside of the East Stand
