Naude Luscombe (born 23 February 1981 in Laingsburg, South
Africa) is a Wales international rugby union player. His
usual position is on the wing or in the centres. Luscombe
attended Diocesan College, Cape Town. He currently plays for
Harlequins in the top level of English rugby, the Guinness
Premiership. He previously played for the Newport Gwent
Dragons in Wales. He has also played for the Wales under-21
team.
He made his Wales Senior debut coming on
as a replacement against Scotland in a pre-2003 Rugby World
Cup international at the Millennium Stadium in August of
that year. Luscombe has also represented Wales at U21 level.
He was part of the Grand Slam winning side in the 2005,
starting on the wing in the opening day victory over England
that season and again the following week against Italy.
Luscombe was a regular for Wales during
the 2006 RBS Six Nations, scoring his second international
try in the match against France at the Millennium
Stadium that concluded Wales's 2005–2006 championship and
gave France the title. He started against Ireland in Wales's
opening match of the 2007 RBS Six Nations, but an injury
sustained in this initial match meant no further appearances
for Luscombe
It was announced in March 2008 that
Luscombe would be joining Worcester Warriors for the 2008/09
season on a two-year contract. He would be joining up with
his former national coach, Mike Ruddock.
