At halftime there was a presentation to "The Wooden Spoon
Society" of £2,300 raised at an auction during the world cup. The
society double the money raised. Which means that £4,600 was raised for the
club's and other charities. A great effort on behalf of all Worcester Supporters |

Bedford got the second half underway. With three
tries in the first half the target of 4 tries and a bonus point, essential if
we were to keep ahead of Orrell, looked a very good bet. Mind you we have had varying
halves before, would this get better or worse. The first thing that happened was the announcement of the Plymouth V Orrell score 22 : 19. The stadium rocked with the cheers from the packed stands. At the end of this game we could be 11 points clear. The crowd were now in full voice cheering on their magnificent Warriors |

Bedford are a good team, certainly one of the best ones in this league. They are well organised and defend hard. Some of the tackling was top draw, big, big hits forcing ball to be spilt. However try as they might they had no answer to the Worcester Lineout. Once again Craig Gillies soared high to take a great ball. With the rest of the pack powering in the resultant drive went backwards quicker than a Trabant up a hill. There was Russell Earnshaw to go over once again for his second try. I bet Gavin Pfister is kicking himself 2 tries lost. The bonus point!!! Worcester 26 : 0 Bedford |

This really galvanised the whole Bedford team, they were
not going to leave Sixways without a score. They had fully 10 minutes where they attacked, attacked and attacked again. Every ploy was used, the centers to punch holes supported by their backrow. Followed up by some immense drives from the big powerful pack, which had dominated every other pack before today.. The Warriors defence fought hard to keep a clean sheet, but sheer determination to score was driving Bedford on |

It was fitting that Simon Hepher who had given Craig
Gillies the hardest test this season should come up with the points. Driving closer and closer to the line, eventually Simon went over, unfortunately the try was not converted Worcester 26 : 5 Bedford |

Bedford were now on the board and showed they could score
if they tried. However not to let the gap slip Worcester upped the pace yet again and put in some great attacking plays. Daren O'leary was another threequarter having a fine day. His ability to confuse the tackler is amazing, he was now popping up all over the place causing real concern in the Bedford defence. BUT it was not from here the scores would come. The next two tries were scored from, yes, you guessed it, the catch and drive. |

It is not just the power of the forwards that have created
this deadly weapon. It is the hours and hours of training under the eye of John
Brain that has developed it. It is done at pace with the drive never coming
to a standstill. Tony Windo was the scorer of one try with Russell Earnshaw once again on hand to finish off another. Giving Russell a Hat-trick on his first start for the club. Beware Mr Pfister this man means business |

Bedford were not done, yet again they tried to develop
some attacks, the Worcester defence however was more than capable of soaking
up this pressure. It was time now to show that the game plan can be changed throughout a game. The ball was going wide. Not particularly well though, in their seeming desperation to run it, the ball was being flicked on or shipped out far to loosely giving the receiving player no chance to catch the ball. Bedford failed to take advantage of this loose ball, losing possession as quickly as they were gifted it. |

Already on the field from the first 20 minutes attrition
were, Richard Bates, David Officer and the fizzing Chris Hall, good to see
him back on the field of play. Had a good game too. Now it was time to bring on some fresher legs in Mark Gabey for Zalts and Mat Powell for Smiley |

Jon Higgins had been brought back from his loan as a replacement with Tommy Hayes resting. It was time to give him some playing time with his club. Jon tackles well and also has a good boot from hand and off the ground. Mat and he soon hit off a partnership looking at ease and confident. Mark Gabey made an immediate impact with some bulldozing runs straight up the middle, just how he loves to play. The games was far from over, the hunger to extend the lead was evident in the way The Warriors were still attacking in numbers |

It was the backs who created and made the final score. A quick ball out to Higgins was shipped to Trueman who gave the ball to O'Leary who attacked the gap between the opposite winger and center causing them to bunch, he then timed the ball beautifully to the grateful David Officer who stormed over score out wide on the left. Worcester 43 : 5 Bedford Final score and another job well done 16 Out Of 16 |

Observations: 1. Some real scrappy play which we got away with. 2. The passing at times in the backs was dreadful, not looking who was there or where they were. Worse still not being there. 3. The feet are most definitely on the ground a very solid hard performance 4. Massive prise once again for the discipline in the face of some dreadful intimidatory tactics |
5. The referee was or seemed out of his depth lost control by weakness. 6. Daren O'Leary has turned us all around, worth every penny paid for. 7. Russell Earnshaw, tackles well, runs exceptionally well and always looks to steal the ball in the tackle 8. Now for London Welsh and 17 out of 17 Andy Keast post match interview, a little noisy as Andy was interviewed amongst the supporters in the bar after the game.
