After the long trudge from the dressing room The Warriors took the field for the second half. With a following wind, although more treacherous for handling a big score was anticipated.

This was further enhanced after the first electric 2 minutes of the half.

London Welsh as hard as they tried just could not live with the pace being put on the game. With Captain Marvel finishing off a move containing great running skill mixed with raw power. Would you believe James Brown missing a relatively simple conversion with a following wind

London Welsh 3 : 15 Worcester

It was now time to slow the presentation of the ball and stop Worcester getting that 4th try, to help this league stay competitive for the rest of the season.

Talk to the referee, go over the top, lying on the ball it was all tried until Mr Wilson produced the yellow card

The Warriors forwards were now in full flow. Using driving mauls to advance up the field, wearing down the valiant Welsh pack. They were not going to surrender ground easily. No matter how good a side they were up against.

At every opportunity, they attempted to breakout and attack, but just could not sustain an attack for long enough to create a platform from which to strike.

Possession from the lineout was providing good ball, in this weather there was never going to be fast ball, for the backs to work with. Again the thrusts were coming from Trueman in the center and Garrard on the outside. Liberally mixed with O'Leary's evasiveness, there was threat all afternoon

After the first break from Wes Davies he seemed to lose direction and confidence, stuttering to make decisions, which enabled the Welsh defence to wrap him up on many occasions. He did not look at ease.

In the set scrums Neil Lyman was as solid as a rock, becoming the pivot on turning around the scrums. Welsh were now visibly weakening in the scrums, providing even further ball for the Warriors' speedsters.

It was now time to give him a rest along with Gary Trueman, being replaced by Lee Fortey and Tommy "Hit Man" Hayes

Within minutes of coming on the field Tommy was asked to kick a penalty. So far it had been 3 tries and no conversions. To the chants of Boring from the London Welsh supporters, who's only points had come from the boot. If converted this would put us more than two scores clear and the win was the most important target not the 4 tries

Well as calm as you like he hit a low flipper that screamed over the bar well on it's way to Kew Gardens

London Welsh 3 : 18 Worcester

London Welsh had not given up, they were still intent on playing rugby, attacking through their backs once again.

However David Officer and Tommy Hayes were putting in some big hits.

This did not stop all attacks at source though!!

There were some great breaks to add to the spice of the game.

All the Worcester travelling support was now shouting for the 4th try. Could we put more pressure on Orrell. If they slipped up against Exeter another point would be a bonus indeed!!

The pressure was on, now, could we score that 4th try. Mat Powell going very close after a determined 30 meter run

In came Russell Earnshaw, taking a great line from a recycled catch and drive, brought the ball back inside for the pack to take up the ball and captain Tony Windo to score the bonus try

Welsh 3 : 25 Worcester

Even in these late stages Welsh were still prepared to run at the Warriors wall of defenders.

The Warriors turning  over one such attack, countering and awarded a penalty for the final 3 points

Welsh 3 : 28 Worcester

Observations:

1.   A very professional win in dreadful conditions

2.   The forwards were once again on confident form oozing power and skill.

3.   Speed in open play from the forwards looked laboured but then conditions were pretty grim.

4.   Chris Garrard was in delightful form, very difficult to stop, making some good breaks

5.   Wes Davies on the other hand looked distinctly out of sorts!

6.   Daren O'Leary continues to go from strength to strength as he starts to live the Worcester ethos. His father is also a gentleman as is Daren!!

7.   Mat Powell having another powerful game, injecting pace and threat that was previously not there.

8.   Smiley the general versus Mat the upstart, you choose very, very difficult. But a great competition for the place, as everywhere else in the team

9.  Jon Hylton came on and looked stronger and more confident in defence, little chance to see him run

10.   That is now 17 out of 17 can we make it 18 out of 18 at Sixways nest week against Manchester. 4 home games to go do not miss a minute of this history making season. make sure YOU are part of it. "BE THERE"
