Full credit must be given to the band of Worcester supporters who once again had the better of the crowd and the cheering.

The second half got underway with a kick that was far too long and flat. Straight into the arms of Drew Hickey. Back came the Warriors driving deep into Wakefield territory

The Worcester forwards, were providing the platform fly-halves dream of and Tommy Hayes was not disappointing. He was releasing his backs, wave after wave of attacks.

The Worcester Supporters were ecstatic, in full appreciation of the silken skills we were seeing from all the backs.

With drew Hickey and Gavin Pfister joining in, creating the link, the continuity was first class. Unusually this year we let a gap appear and Wakefield were through. Showing a clean pair of heels, scoring a well deserved try.

Wakefield 12 : 38 Worcester

The confidence was high. Worcester clearly set out their intentions to run everything at the Wakefield defence. That was their big Achilles heel, it was to be opened and worked to it's limit.

Within 4 minutes Worcester were back on the score board. A fabulous run from Daren O'Leary leaving defenders strewn all over the field. He then chipped the last defender to race past and touch down for his second try.

Wakefield 5 : 38 Worcester

This was now the biggest number of points conceded since November last year.

This disappointment did not upset the players but fired them up for bigger things. back they came and in the space of 15 minutes scored 3 tries. Taking the game away from any thoughts of a comeback.

Daren completing a well deserved hat-trick, Gary Trueman and David Officer the other two

Wakefield 12 : 57 Worcester

It is great credit to Wakefield that even at this stage their heads did not go down!!

They tried and tried to create something, but indecision from the fullback was costing them dearly.

Wakefield did manage to out fox the defence yet again when Worcester were on the attack. A converted try. Lesson: never relax

Wakefield 19 : 57 Worcester

On the field now was the trailist Scrum Half Neil Cole from Natal, South Africa. It did not take long to see why the Sharks rate him so highly.

His first touch found him in a difficult situation. He looked up saw the smallest of gaps and hit the gas. he carved straight through, passing inside to the supporting Gary Trueman. The move eventually broke down but the skill was clearly evident for all to see.

He is quick to the ball and has a good fast pass. He tackles well and is confident. Looks good, time will tell against a bigger and better pack

All the substitutes were now on the field, Dan Zaltsman, Chris Hall, James Brown, Neil Lyman, Chris Evans and finally  Duncan Murray. Duncan is a big powerful center who has not had much opportunity. He took this with both hands. Smashing through the Wakefield defenders, who looked shocked to see such a powerful runner coming on at this late stage.

With James Brown now at Fly half and Tommy in the center the game speeded up. James creating space and time for the players around him. He really does have a super fast long pass, which he used to devastating effect

The forwards had not let up all day and were continuing to drive the Wakefield pack backwards with "relative" ease. Even though this was a big score it had not been a cakewalk. Wakefield had defended well, tough and uncompromising. Unfortunately this was just not good enough to keep the Warriors at bay.

It was the Warriors who would have the last say with a great team try.

Wakefield 19 : 64 Worcester

A very satisfactory day at work

Observations:

1.   Lets get the bad out of the way first. Defence took a dive today. Concentration went and so did the cover.

2.   Jon Hylton once again looked very sharp until removed with a sternum injury from a hard tackle

3.   David Officer is now coming back to his form looking good and hungry for points.

4.   Gary Trueman, looked sharp but missed a couple of tackles

5.   The pack once again dominated all area's of the field. In particular the lineouts and rucks.

6.   Gavin Pfister looks faster than I have ever seen him, played a great game in attack.

7.   New Scrum Half Neil Cole on his first 20 minutes looks good, very good. Very quick off the mark, recycled the ball fast and tackles like an openside.

8.   Daren O'Leary was outstanding in attack. He was unstoppable, creating holes and breaks everywhere. He deservedly got his hatrick and was my man of the match.

Whilst waiting for the second half to start there were some remarks made about how weak we were and how Rotherham are the best side ever to be promoted form this division. How ungracious and spoilt that comment was. Meant to have a dig at Worcester rather than praise Rotherham.

1.   Worcester have not been promoted yet so how does he know.

2.   He has seen only one Worcester game this season where we have soundly beaten his team by their biggest defeat in years.

3.   Rotherham on both occasions after promotion have come straight back down. They are the only team to do so!!!

4.   Newcastle, Northampton, London Irish and Leeds have all been promoted from this division and have done very well indeed. Leeds now into their 3rd season.

5.   This season every club in this division has improved on last year. Worcester has beaten everyone of them, 6 of them twice. Scoring a record number of points, conceding the least number of points at this time of the season.

6.   We are unbeaten in a record 19 games, a record previously held by Northampton(18 Games)

So you tell me who the best side to get promoted form this division is??
