Tuts' Audio Report The John Brain Interview
The scene was set by the gathering of the old and bold with the Ex Players Reunion Lunch. Even the photographers are having that "senior Moment" as they forget how their cameras work

The Guinness bar was packed early on as Big John laid out the tackle bags for his mighty warriors

On came the marching band in glorious sunshine looking resplendent in their bright red uniforms, playing some appropriate Elgar.

The team came out for the warm up lab amidst thunderous applause. The crowd of 6,000 Warriors supporters cheered the team all the way around the stadium. The spine tingled and the heart raced in the emotional atmosphere

As the band marched playing some wonderful music my thoughts drifted back to my old army days, the hands were shaking as I prepared to photograph this momentous occasion.

Bradders took center stage as he introduced the teams, the crowd cheering everyone of their heroes.

Big John and mighty Phil looked worried to death as Keasty sublimely discussed the days events with the match officials. Mind you Roger looks worried about running around in all this heat

Bradders brought the crowd to order as the teams prepared to come onto the field. Firstly out came the Pertemps Bees to a great reception from the home crowd, many ex Worcester players amongst them must have had a small tear in the eyes, or was that grit.

Then to tumultuous cheers out came The League Champions.

Lead out fittingly by Werner Swanepoel, who was still unfit from his serious illness. Unable to play but a big part of this fantastic team

The two teams gathered themselves for final motivational gathering before Tommy Hayes got the game underway.

the ball was knocked on in attempting to secure it and Worcester were awarded the put in at the first scrum.

The Bees front row is a powerful unit and immediately had the warriors under pressure, finally conceding a free kick.

On the attack came the Bees. it was now or never, hit Worcester while they were still cold and apply some pressure, maybe force an error and a quick score. It was not to be the Warriors defence did well to secure the ball and relieve the pressure

Pertemps Bees has the better of the first 5 minutes but were unable to convert their advantage into points. The reason was the big tackling backrow and centers. there was going to be no give in this defence, yet.

The first two lineouts were even stephen. Then A great lineout and fast ball out to Tommy Hayes who sent a great miss pass out to he left. the back row were quickly there and recycled again out down the narrow side. The ball was drive twice and then released back inside going right. Wobderful hands and timing gave Chris Garrard the easiest of openings and he screamed over for the first score of the day
