The Tuts Report The John Brain Interview
The second half was started by James Brown with his usual high kick into the middle of the Sale team and again we recovered the ball. But we did nothing with it!!

The Sale backrow were cutting the warriors defence to pieces driving hole after hole and once again they were very quickly into their scoring mode with an unconverted try taking the score to

Sale 36 : 3 Warriors

The Worcester forwards were working very hard and were setting up nice situations to attack from. Once again the ball was slow and when into the midfield was static and very weak. There was no threat to the Sale defence from the backs. It was time to attack constantly through the pack. Options were limited, it looked hard work and un exciting but it was effective.

the forwards were now taking it deep into the Sale half and on two occasions drove over the line only to be kept up and driven backwards by a strong defence

On came Stuart-Smith and once again the tempo increased. Suddenly Brown had space, he was moving onto the ball instead of stood still waiting, the backs started to make ground first through Hinshelwood and then Delport. But it was not enough as the ball would inevitable y be lost in the tackle or knocked on in the pass.

Sale nave gave up for a second the moment the ball was turned over or they got possession the attacked. It was instant and it was very dangerous with players running into space at will. the covering and tackling were evaporating as the game went on

The tries started to flow as did the verbal spats from the announcer.

As we can see our very own Lloydy and Tuts high up in the press box were hard at work bringing all the Worcester folk the game live from Edgeley Park.

the telephoto is at its limit with this one so sorry about the quality of the shot, but he does look as if it is not going to well.

The game continued and so did the points

The Warriors had not given up by a long way as the forwards battled and battled and battled. It is hard work fighting for and getting into attacking positions only to see it frittered away.

But take from this that we were being given a lesson in clinical finishing but the forwards were equal to the task set them and that is without a fit frontrow

Well could we slow down this assault and not get penalised as we had seen bath and Newcastle do at Sixways. the answer is, not quite yet with Big Tim being sent to the bin for a 10 minute spell. the ref had actually got the wrong man.

Didn't Tim make a difference when he came in and drove the maul. we just did not release it when we could have, is that confidence.

Chabal at No8 was having a great game very mobile and immensely strong he was causing problems all night. Then put Jones at his side taking the ball on you have a pretty formidable weapon and Sale used it well!!

It was now backs to the wall to try and stop the flow of points. It did not happen.

We saw some brilliant play from that man Billy Whizz as he skipped through tackle after tackle. In one mazy run he left two players looking into fresh air as he sped down the wing. Coming in to tackle him was Delport, who was having a very good game, just one flick of his hips and a great sidestep he lust left the South African international flat on his stomach wondering where on earth he had gone. A fabulous moment for the whole crowd apart from the Warriors on the pitch.

All this and still we tried to attack when the chance arose. Once again we drove the Sale forwards towards their line. A clearance kick giving us a great attacking lineout.

Murphy on for Gillies took the ball and on we drove, again we were at the line before we were held up and the moment lost. Down deep into their bottom left hand corner could we score. the travelling support had never given up they had cheered and cheered and cheered even as 50 points were being racked up against their team. they alone deserved the points. But they just would not come.

With Sale having the final say and taking the score to:

Sale 57 : 3 Warriors.

The last 10 minutes saw Worcester trying to get a score and some reward for their efforts but on the night they were just not capable of getting over the line.

Final Score Sale 57 : 3 Warriors

Observations:

One and one only. This is not the time for recriminations. That was a hard game with many lessons given and hopefully learnt. I am sure the players and coaching staff will have enough to do to get it sorted.

We now have to come together more then ever before. At last we are in a situation where we are not rolling over semi professional sides. we are in the best league in the world and we have to come to terms with that as supporters as well as players

It is as easy as pie to support a winning side now lets ee what stell we have to support a side battered and bruised but still competeing in this league. Saint Andre, said he feared Worcester, he respected their ability. That has not gone away after on game.

Now it is game on for next Saturday, Quins lost at home to bath without gaining bonus point. they will come to Sixways like a cornered rat and will play their hearts out. WE will have to match that passion and give it back harder, faster and more effectively.

Support and that is a massive 8,000 supporters is needed so get out there and get the stadium filled and for heavens sake show as much passion as all the away supporters did at Sale. It is a game we can win it is up to the team, the coaches and us the supporters, do not be the weakest link open your mouths and cheer and cheer and cheer some more. I want to hear croaks as you ask for the Guinness at the end of the game!!!!!!
