Tuts' Audio Report The John Brain Interview
At half time we all tried to keep up our spirits, very much helped by the camaraderie from the Tigers supporters around us. During the game and after they were excellent hosts, making our visit a memorable one for enjoyment in the face of an overwhelming defeat, thank you!!

Out came both teams for the second half with a few changes in the Worcester team. On had come Hayes and Hall for Brown and Neikerk.

Leicester got the second half underway and once again we could not gather and secure a restart, a problem we have had all season in varying degrees.

Tommy Hayes' first two kick were woefully directed giving the ball back to the ever willing Leicester backs to counter attack. A big plus here was the way the chasing Warriors hit the counter and stopped them dead on most occasions. After these first two kicks he produced some wonderful line kicking

However one quick turnover ball on the left saw Geordan Murphy out think and out pace the defending Pieters to score a fine individual try. Once again calmly converted by Goode

Taking the score to Tigers 36 ; 0 Warriors

The Warriors, like their fanatical supporters did not give up!! They regrouped and came back onto the attack driving Leicester back deep into their own half. It was now time for Goode to slice a kick into touch giving Worcester position and opportunity.

The ball was beautifully taken by Gillies and a drive was set up. Under enormous defensive pressure the maul slowly crabbed sideways. the ball was recycled to Hayes who set up a good move going right immediately breaking the gain line. In came the Leicester backrow to defend and the ball was then quickly recycled left. At last we saw fast ball from Hayes straight into the hands of Trueman who scythed through the Leicester defence for a great try under the posts

However over the next 10 minutes Leicester scored 2 wonderful tries using the power of their forwards liberally sprinkled with the speed and panache of the talented threequarter line.

Two players who have epitomised Worcester well earned respect throughout the premiership clearly showing why they are both international class players. Sanderson and Delport may well be on the losing side but their heads are held up, proud defiance just oozes form their bodies. "Yes, we have just lost a game to the best side in Europe but I am still going to try and finish on top".

The last attacks once again came from Worcester!!

Observations:

1.   Massive effort against by far the best side in the premiership

2.   The team managed to keep its shape even when things regularly went pear shaped for them.

3.   You could feel the pride in the team not to let themselves and the supporters down.

4.   For the first time the forwards came out second best but never once did they capitulate, they were always focused and determined to keep trying working together as a team.

5.   There is no doubt that if they can reproduce the best of this game along with their games against Gloucester and Wasps they should have the confidence to win all their remaining home games

6.   Once again it has to be mentioned that we are still a quality flyhalf and No8 short. I do not think Henderson played particularly well. Hickey is much more accomplished in this position but seems short of the sheer size to carry the ball and draw in the defending backrow

7.   When the ball was provided quickly into the centers we saw Trueman taking a really devastating line.

8.  We have two quality wingers who are being wasted. It could be argued that they should go looking for the ball, but where in a flat line can you look.

9.   Next week we have London Irish, who are masters of defence. If we can play as hard as we did today and against Wasps AND if we can break down their defence we have the beating of them.

10.   It is now time for every Worcester supporter to support the team for a full 90 minutes. Not every other 5 minutes but none stop for 90 minutes. It is hard work and you will be shattered by the end of the game but you will be full of pride that YOU have done your best to help your team WIN. On the 1st Jan your club really does expect!! Please do not be found wanting, we will get only one chance at this game.

We KNOW we can do it but it is going to take a monumental effort, the players will give that effort and so I believe will we.

From the second the players come out to warm up we HAVE to be there to cheer them on, a pint of beer at the bar is no excuse not to cheer your team on their warm up. We must intimidate the London Irish players. We have to win. It is in OUR throats to do so.
