Tuts' Audio Report The John Brain Interview
The Weekend by the Sea had finally arrived! 100 supporters met at Sixways ready for the trip to Newcastle. But JP had different ideas, " come one you orrible lot get booked in in the bar". In the bar we all trop to be met with ice cold glasses of Bucks Fizz and hot Bacon Rolls.

What a start to a great weekend. The journey up was fine until we left Wetherby, after pub lunches, as we listened to the scores from around the country. Could this be another weekend of disappointing score lines.

As we reached the hotel we were met by the star of the weekend "Ron" our personal hotel rep. He was marvellous, as he calmly distributed the room keys and registration forms.

Once in we all changed for dinner. A superb roast beef meal was served along with soup or melon followed by apple pie  and coffee. As we ate the drink went down and the magician bedazzled us all with his skills.

It was time to listen to Ed Morrison, who talked about his life as a referee and experiences within the rugby fraternity. He soon lifted our spirits, once again we were ready to take on the world of Premiership Rugby

On came the group, who soon had us all up taking part in a talent contest, some are most definitely better at singing than dancing

Sunday morning and it was time for the Fat Bloke 7's training on the beach. It was quite an eventful session as we found our very own Breyton Paulse and Neil Back.

We even had a substitution for a blood injury. AND this was "touch" rugby

Back to rugby thoughts as lunchtime loomed.

In high spirits we set off for Kingston Park, the weather was fine but very windy. We were soon discussing all the permutations yesterdays scores and what we needed to do.

For the supporters it was back to the old favourite, "Tactical Chanting". Get the throat well oiled, clear the lungs of any of last nights smoke and prepare to commit for 90 minutes of solid unbridled, passionate support for The Warriors!!

As we entered the ground there was total agreement on the quality and set-up of Kingston Park. Take a bow Newcastle it is a great stadium.

We were immediately made to feel at home by everyone we met. The Quart pots were something else as many of the hardened tipplers soon found out. It catches up on you.

Warriors supporters were everywhere, almost 700 had made the trip up and they were going to enjoy every minute of the experience

Before the game started we had the circuit of the pitch by some very young potential stars of the future. It was fantastic to see these young players, boys and girls, hurtling around the stadium. Their pride in being part of match day was clear to see on all their faces as they ran past.

Once again, take a bow Newcastle, great to see youth getting all the applause for their hard work

We even had a kinking competition, which was run and organised with fun in mind.

It was an absolute pleasure to be at Kingston Park!!

Back to the game!

"Matt Burke" got the game underway, with Falcons using the strong wind behind them to put the bull high and deep into Worcester Territory.

The ball was secured and "run" in hand back at the advancing forwards.

Several phases of ball in hand short powerful thrusts enable the Warriors to move towards their own 10 meter line and then kick for position into the Newcastle half. Against a strong oblique wind, not much ground was going to be made from the boot in this half.

The game plan seemed to be, keep the ball in hand and draw in the Falcon's loose forwards.

There was immense physical commitment for both teams as tackles were coming in hard and fast. No quarter given and none asked

Worcester, were finding holes in the Falcon's defence as first Lombard and then Rasmussen made ground. With Newcastle on the back foot it was time to start dominating the set piece and particular the line out. Craig Gillies, Phil Murphy and Andre van Neikerk were dazzling form as each and every line out was secured with the minimum of fuss.

Another great break down the middle saw Powell make a half break and draw in the defence. He slipped a beauty to Giscard Pieters. With line only 5 meters away and no-one to stop him the Warriors supporters were on their feet ready for the first score. The ball hit the hand and fell straight out. Chance gone missing as the crowd wailed in frustration

It was now time for the Falcon's to hit back at pace. Some great mid-field work and distribution saw the winger free and in open space on the left.

As he stormed away, Ben Hinshelwood dug deep and pimped those mighty thighs, overhauling him, dragging him to ground and into touch

It was so obvious to see that the Worcester defence was going to be in such super form. It was going to take something very special to break it down.

Newcastle continued to pressure the defence which subsequently drifted offside to gibe Burke the simple task in front of the post to open the scoring

Newcastle 3 : 0 Warriors

The game was heating up nicely both on and off the field.

The noise from the Worcester Supporters was immense, you could feel it around you body and in your soul. The stadium was Sixways!

The players responded, in defence the support increased in volume as tackle after tackle stopped the Falcons well short of the gain line again and again.

We had a few handbags at dawn to clear the air but nothing of significance in such a vital game for both clubs.

Worcester, even with 3 first choice missing from their pack were now in control of all set piece play.

On 27 minutes after some intense attacks Worcester found the chink in the armour and flooded through. A ruck ball was set up and Powell got the ball away under all sorts of attention from the Falcon's back row.

The ball was shipped down the line to the flying Pieters who screamed over in the corner for w super try. Against the strong win the ball struggled to get near the posts.

Falcons 3 : 5 Warriors

A lead they fully deserved.

Newcastle came back, pressurising the Worcester defence and awarded one of those strange unfathomable penalties.

Falcons 6 : 5 Warriors

Another penalty awarded was missed by Burke as the strong wind took it across the post. Followed by another penalty which was quickly, too quickly, taken only for Delport to take the lofted corner kick and gain some 50 meters.

James Brown making them pay with a beautifully take drop goal off his right foot

Falcons 6 : 8 Warriors
