We discussed with
our new Waspie friends at half time the thoughts on how we had performed and
what was the best way to open the second half. The consensus was they we needed to come at them fast and hard and try to get any points we could as early as possible. Without conceding any in return. We felt once in front by two score we would be able to hold them, well in our hearts we did. |

Wasps had not
scored for over 50 minutes and they were definitely stung into action. Their
play changed to a positional kicking game. Get Worcester turning and use
pace to go round them. However it was Worcester who set up the attacks and looking very dangerous. The first line had been breeched, the ball was moved left to Drahm (not fast enough though) to keep the attack going he tried to chip the final defensive formation and give Hylton a ball to run onto. Unfortunately Abbott charged down the kick and hacked on. The chase was on, Abbott had a 10 yard start as Hylton now had to turn and come from the opposite wing to cover. As Hinshelwood did not have the pace to get there. Jonny hit the go pedal and boy did he fly!! he overtook Abbott and tried to fly hack the ball into touch and safety. It did not go well, missing the ball completely Abbott took the ball turned and gave Voyce the easiest run in for try No2 Wasps 14 : 10 Warriors |

Once again we had
allowed a side to score from one of our attacking positions. With the pace they have a turnover ball is devastating especially when there is only one player who can match their pace |

However all was not
lost or so we thought. The Warriors responded immediately by driving down deep into the Wasps 22. With the defenders struggling to hold back wave after wave of forward bone and muscle thumping on. Two drives, three drives but still not there. Where was the wide ball, where was the move of attack. The over-confidence in the ability to drive teams over cost a possible score. The move fizzled out as Wasps recovered and then cleared their lines. |

Wasps worked their
way back into the Worcester half and applied the pressure, forcing handling
errors and shade of desperation as Worcester tried to regain some
shape and control. The inevitable penalties quickly followed. Guisebergen was back to his kicking best as he calmly converted two penalties. But still there was only one score in it and all to play for Wasps 20 : 13 Warriors |

Within 3 minutes
Wasps were once again banging on the door which was looking decidedly shaky. A great attacking move using backs and forwards culminated in Joe Worsely brushing aside Shane Drahm and storming over for a very good try Wasps 27 : 13 Warriors |

In 16 minutes of play Wasps had scored 17 points. Another score would have put them out of touch. But captain Marvel and his team were not going to rollover for anyone, EVER. back they came with fight and massive massive passion and desire. However we had become so predictable by sole attacking through the forwards it became easy to control. Keep Worcester in their own half and they will never score. Forwards cannot drive for 60 meters!! Wasps applied a sensible kicking game as ball after ball was thumped high and deep in Worcester territory asking them to score from there if you can. As the game wore on it became less and less likely as the power was draining from their bodies. Up step Nicholas Le Roux!! A ball was kicked through a ruck 70 meters from the Wasps try line. the ball was fumbled and Le Roux pounced like a master poacher. 70 meters later and the Warriors support went ballistic. Leroux...Leroux......lerouxlerouxleroux A new champion had been born, however Mr Abbott took great offence. "Handbags at Dawn" Wasps 27 : 20 Warriors and it was "Game On" for the last 4 minutes |

Once again Worcester had created something in the last minute of the game. Would we keep the bonus point, in fact could we sneak a draw, we were certainly worth it over the whole game. A really silly incident out on the left gave Wasps a penalty. 3 points and game is over we lose bonus point. However Wasps see the opportunity to score a 4th try and get the try bonus point for themselves. Kick into the Warriors 22, 10 yards out. Could Craig make one final leap and steal the ball? Unfortunately no, the ball was cleanly taken and once again we did nit stop the drive quickly enough. Allowing the drive to take them to within 5 meters before they themselves were organised. A couple of swift surges and changes of direction and they were over. A magnificent game against the champions on their home patch, unjustly we leave without a losing bonus point which was well deserved and hard worked for. The Warriors had come and definitely laid down a marker they fear no-one and are capable of beating anyone Wasps 34 : 20 Warriors |
