Leicester pulled back from being 13-15 adrift at the beginning of the second half to gain control of the EDF Energy Anglo-Welsh Cup Pool D match at Sixways and win by 15 points.

If they beat Northampton in the final pool match in the first week of December, they will qualify for a semi-final place.

Given that they were nearly at full strength against a weakened Worcester side, the one who had trounced Northampton at Franklin's Gardens last week, they can hardly have done better.

Worcester have other matters on their minds, like pulling away from the bottom of the Guinness Premiership. They opened as if they meant business. When Lewis Moody attempted to halt an attack he put a foot out and conceded a penalty. James Brown added the points.

Back came Leicester for John Murphy to touch down in the right corner. Paul Burke missed with a conversion, within three minutes Sam Vesty bagged the second try, and this time Burke converted before adding a penalty, matched with another from Brown. With the first quarter at an end that is how it stayed until the break, 15-6 to Leicester.

Not all appeared lost for Worcester but they were getting a grilling from the Tigers' forwards. Where Worcester were found wanting was in the front row, where Marcus Ayerza, James Buckland and Julian White were just too strong.

Despite their power and invention Leicester were not having things all their own way, however. They moved the ball at every opportunity.

To be fair to Worcester they spun the ball as wide as they could, but every time the Tigers' defence cut them down.

In games like this, where one side are bigger, faster and more skilful than the other, the mind can wander, however.

John Murphy was almost clear, but a forward pass was detected and the chance went begging.

On another occasion a Tigers line-out was a mess and Worcester had it in their heads to at least spoil Leicester's attacking potential

Worcester emerged for the second half full of purpose. They made the most of a line-out for Gavin Quinnell to crash over for a try.

Brown struck the ball well and converted. At 13-15 there was still everything to play for; Burke then slotted a penalty and still only five points separated the two teams.

That diminished in the first moments of the final quarter. Ayerza got the try, Andy Goode, who had replaced Burke, converted.

Daryl Gibson claimed the fourth try to herald the bonus point. Ben Gotting finished with Worcester's last score, and Gibson got his second try to wrap things up.

First Half Observations:

1.  The report is not particularly accurate.

2.  Once again with such awful defence out wide We contrived to gift the whole game to Leicester.

3.  Some really good work rates especially from Horstmann, Blaze and Gillies.

4.  Once again we gave away stupid penalties at the scrum and we have lost the grunt which made is such a powerful front 5 for the last two seasons.

5.  After conceding two soft tries Kai got his troops together and tightened things up as we fought to take control of the game.

.

6.  James Brown and Ryan Powell played well after the first 15 minutes. But who on earth devised such a ridiculous game plan of kicking the ball straight in to the Tigers back 3 at every opportunity. The ball went up but where were the chasers - still trying to work out where they should be.

7.  In attack we stuttered because players just did not know what lines they should be running and why.

8.  Why pass to a winger who has 10cm's to work in when the player in possession would be better taking it into contact. Don't spin the ball wide so lamely if the winger is not going to get any space. The fullback should have been coming in on an inside line to straighten it up

9. Big improvement from certain players passion but a long way to go before the hearts of the players beat with the word WORCESTER!!!!
