Now it was time to defend as Calvisano showed their Heineken Cup pedigree and pressured the Warriors 22 for a solid and well constructed passage of play for 5 minutes.

This time the Warriors defence stood firm and always looked for the counter

The packs were at this point quite evenly matched, with some small irritant handbags between the Fortey Twins and anything that moved. 100 lines must learn to deal with miscreants with getting spotted!

Then it happened something we had been waiting for, Drahm took a great pass from Ryan Powell, and what a revelation he is to our style of play, drifted left, waited and waited and dropped an absolute peach of a short pass to Kai Horstmann who came in on a fantastic line ripping through the Calvisano defence like a hot knife through melting butter. He was away and with support instantly there on either side and set up one of the best series of moves seen at Sixways. Culminating in a great try.

The Warriors were on fire and all guns were blazing straight down the throats of the helpless Italian visitors.

The speed of ball from Ryan Powell was outstanding, what a player he looks to be for Worcester. With such fantastic service Drahm was able to boss the game totally.

What was so impressive was the speed of ball release from players, the linking between backs and forwards lead by an on fire backrow of Sanderson, Harding and Horstmann

He sensible and calmly got them together and "had a little word in their shell likes"

It was now time for the forwards to reap some rewards for the athletic running performance so far.

It came in an old fashioned catch and drive.

It was crabbed cleverly towards the posts and then the whole drive cut right almost as smoothly as Jason Robinson on the run.

There was no time to think as move after move was played out from the rucks and mauls. Quick short thrusts, run it outside, bring it back, long miss passes, short delayed drop passes.

We were being given an absolute treat

They had some good moves which regularly tested our defence. This is where Ras, Whatling and the whole backrow displayed true grit and stopped everything. However Calvisano fought their way down deep into our 22. A moment of madness and an outlandish late tackle saw Lee Best take a deserved 10 minute rest, just as Calvisano drop the ball as they crossed the whitewash

The pressure was on! Calvisano sniffed a chance to break through. They cam at the Warriors like a white advertising hoarding.

BUT the defence held and it held and it held. A chance to break out. They took it.

Hey, looks who is out on the left unseen Marcel Garvey a spot on cross field chip from Shine caught out the Italian defence and with some glorious moves and support play another try.

Then came a try that had the whole stadium in raptures.

It started on the halfway line by the forwards turning over ball and instant attack from Ryan Powell and Shine, the timing of his passing was sublime. There was nothing Calvisano could do.

The ball was taken up to the 22 going right at speed, Garvey came in from the wing on a super line taking a perfectly timed pass and just sliced through the whole defence.

Accelerated round one player, cut back inside another and another drifted around anther and swerved passed yet another defender as he sped straight between the sticks. The crowd erupted what a fantastic try
