Apart from the game itself and premiership game plan preparation the day was about this man.

" TONY WINDO "

Mr Worcester, many had tried to oust him as out No1 loose head and all had failed until "he" decided to give someone else the opportunity to make a name for themselves.

A great servant to The Warriors a Player's Player and above all else a Supporter's Player.

The game had been split into two teams having a complete change at half time, giving 30 players an opportunity to taste the atmosphere in front of the awesome East Stand.

It may not have had many supporters in their (2 to be precise) but it will certainly dominate the view of players on the field.

The game was started by our new Fly Half - Matt Jones

It was not long before Craig Gillies was back in the limelight serving up the usual feast of ball off the lineouts.

With Netalie on tipppy Toe he can certainly get up to some height.

A key element in our play however with the new laws I expect to see less and less line outs.

What would be our game plan for the first season under the new "Experimental Law Variations"

Straight from the kick-off  it was clear how we were going to play.

"Fast and Furious"

The backing up and fitness of the players is going to be really tested as will their handling and passing.

The players had certainly come on a bundle since last August. The recycling was slick when necessary but the majority of the tactical change of not getting caught in possession and hitting the spaces meant this did not very often happen

Matt Jones looks a seriously good player.

Yes he can kick which we all knew but for me the biggest bonus was his passing.

Not just the timing but the controlled speed and where he passed to.

Not to the player, but to exactly where he wanted him to be and where he should be running into.

It forces the receiving player to know exactly the line of attack, be on the same wavelength hitting the gap and taking the ball at pace.

There were some dropped balls but this was mainly from players stretching for the ball as they attacked it

It will come together the more the train and play together.

Against Moseley the team had a chance to get used to playing this style at a slightly slower pace than the premiership.

It will get more pressure and it is "high risk rugby".

However it will bring great and exciting rewards for Worcester Rugby.

I wonder who these two supporters are?? The very first to watch from the New East Stand

Yes, Matt Jones looks good.

Stockier than I thought from his pictures and he does have a strong turn of pace. There was not much kicking from hand so not too sure of his capabilities here. One penalty to touch was not good though.

Matt joined well with our other matt, matt Powell and with his backline.

We really do have a fast dangerous strike force on the outsides

The way the forwards are playing the game I see Pat Sanderson having an oustanding season playing alongside Netalie Talie. I really got the impression that they have generated a formidable partnership. Add in Tom Wood or Kai Horstmann and it is looking good in the backrow. Here is where it will count up front and dominating the opposition. They did not do that today so a bit of work still to do here. We know how good they can be so not too concerned at this point in the season.
Marcel Garvey had another good game. Taking a great catch running backwards into his own 22, up on his feet and immediately  linked up with his supporting players.

Took a ball as he went into contact spun to his left away from the tackler and speed away to score a very good try.

Chris pennall also showed some realk strength to burst onto a ball, through two other players and hand off a third for another running try.

1st half of 45 points to nil reflected the dominance of the team and the running ambitious, high risk play.

Second half saw a complete change of the team apart from Craig Gillies.

The return of Loki Crichton showed just how good a player he is. His running and kicking from hand was excellent.

The Enigma - Joe Carlisle.

He certainly has talent, he can run, he can kick and he handles the ball incredibly well but for me his controll of the game in such a pivotal position is still deeply flawed. But he has time.

On the other hand the emergence of Charlie Fellows is fantastic. A very dangerous runner, who is strong and full of confidence

The second half also saw the entrance of Rico Gear who had a good game. looking for work and giving everything when in possession

His try was one full of class and determination.

With Marcel and Miles still performing well who will be the wingers.

At this stage mine would be Rico and Marcel.

With Loki and now Matt Jones here at the club Joe will probably be No3

He may make the grade but has some way to go yet. He certainly has the talent it is a matter of how much he wants it.

The second half was certainly more disjointed.

We saw platers still returning from injuries since the end of last season

Chris Horsman, Loki Crichton, Greg Rawlinson, Darren Morris, Shaun Ruwers and we still have Chris latham and Hal Luscombe to make their appearnces

The side certainly look very fit and full of running.

It may have only been against Moseley but the team ran all day and still looked full of running at the end.

Moseley certainly had their moments and never once shied away from the job in hand. Their tackling was quite ferocious at times.

Here is one of our old boys "waggy" coming in focused as he always was.

Now is the time to concentrate on Ulster.

It is this wednesday just 4 days away.

It will test the recovery ability of the players and will be much more of a test.

Remember Ulster have been and Heineken Cup Team for many years

When the ball went loose invariable our players were there first

However in support there were times the ball was not protected on the floor and Moseley came round and stolle it.

This has to corrected or Premiership clubs will punish us badly, especially is we are playing High Risk Rugby with reduced layers of defence.

Good hands but take control.
Observations:

It is High Risk Rugby but will bring great rewards

Protect the ball at the rucks

Front Row Dominance

Rico Looks hot

Matt Jones certainly looks the part

Netalie Talie looking very powerful and full of running

Pat Sanderson looking fit and ready to take on all commers
