. . . .

Poor old Duncan Misses out on the huddle, but the 15 out there really meant business.

Plymouth are a very big powerful team who like to play expansive rugby.

The warriors needed to be in top form to consolidate their lead at the top of the table

James Brown, in the best form of his Warriors career, gets the game underway.

(Open  your mouth and in goes your foot), the ball did not make 10, but Plymouth played the ball and in came the Warriors pack at full tilt.

Not a good start but it did show that the forwards were more than awake.

Plymouth forced a lineout wide on the right which they won, but the speed and power of the Warriors pack turned the ball over and attacked through the in-form Gary Trueman.

Forcing a penalty, with Worcester choosing to go for a 5 meter lineout. catch and drive just like clockwork

Plymouth 0 : 5 Warriors

It was now all Worcester, even so the Plymouth backs were getting ball but the speed up in defence forced them to kick away all their possession. The Worcester forwards were in magnificent form, using the pick and drive again and again before releasing James Brown and his rapier like musketeers.

Gary Trueman and Tommy Hayes were in great form breaking through the defence again and again. Eventually creating an opportunity for Daren O'Leary wide on the right, he drifted and accelerated outside the defender scoring a great try. Converted by "The Man" Tommy Hayes

Plymouth 0 : 12 The Warriors

This did not phase the Plymouth forwards back they came showing plenty of power and organisation.

Worcester were forced to give away a penalty some 40 yds out.Up stepped Tom Barlow and calmly converted.

Plymouth 3 : 12 Worcester

A slight hic-u1 Back came The Warriors, James Brown's distribution was controlling the game his long miss passes were creating space for the ever willing Gary Trueman to capitalise on.

Some great interplay saw him finally go over wide on the left running in towards the post to make the kick easier.

He must be worried about Tommy's kicking??? Tommy calmly converted the try

Plymouth 3 : 19 The Warriors

Then came a moment of skill and tenacity from the Plymouth winger and naivety from the latest Scottish International Ben Hinshelwood. Instead of making the tackle he was stood up and the ball chipped over his flailing arms.

A well taken try which was converted by Tom Barlow

Plymouth 10 : 19 Warriors

We were then treated to another aspect of James Brown's play. as the confidence levels increase he just gets better and better.

From an attacking ruck he took a snap drop goal and straight between the sticks it sailed.

Plymouth 10 : 22 Warriors

Straight from the kick-off Worcester attacked driving and running the ball deep into the Plymouth defence, only to lose the ball in a tackle situation. The ball was well used by Plymouth who took their opportunity and once again Worcester concede a try in the dying minutes of the first half

Half  Time

THE SECOND HALF ACTION

The half time entertainment was just a little too much for an old man to watch.

Still I had to, so that I could bring you all these photographs The things I do for rugby!!

Plymouth got the second half underway, Worcester caught the ball (must have been practicing this a lot lately) It was given to backrow to smash their way forward, the ball was then moved at electric pace in and out, down the line, recycled faster then an East German Trabant and out to the terrible duo Trueman and Hayes.

A gap was created and Daren O'Leary once again like a spitting cobra was there to cross the line for the 4th and bonus try after 46 seconds of glorious rugby

Plymouth 17 : 29 The Warriors

the forwards were now in complete control of all aspects of the game.

Craig Gillies and Drew Hickey were taking all at the line (apart from a couple of silly mistakes)Mark Gabey, Christian Evans and Neil Lyman were making meters every time they carried the ball. Gavin Pfister once again was everywhere stealing some great turnover ball, linking with Hickey to provide the space for the fizzing runners outside.

But this was a time to consolidate secure the win and make sure we have 22 fit players for the next game Territory and penalties were the game, now!

The ferocious play from the Warriors backrow now dominated the game. Neil Lyman, Mark Gabey and Ben Daly were also joining in with relish and a great deal of commitment.

Christian Evans was taking the ball into contact with bone crunching power which echoed around the ground. Still being led by the evergreen captain dynamic Tony Windo, just look at his face, would you take him on.

A man who leads by example from the front. If it's tough in there that's where he will be.

Forward power, threequater speed and guile was a fantastic mix of rugby at it's most dynamic. It was wonderful to watch, from the terraces.

However Plymouth were at the sharp end having to defend against it for every second. This they did and when the chance came to attack they did, but the Warriors defence was like a steam hammer smashing down the vanguard of attacks turning the ball over and producing a riposte of deadly accuracy. This forced Plymouth to give away penalties. Even though you thought it safe to go in the water fully 40 meters out Tommy Hayes struck two beauties!

Plymouth 17 : 35

John & Andy  now started to ring the changes with Richard Bates Replacing Christian Evans, Lee Fortey Replacing Tony Windo, Chris Garrard replacing two try hero Daren O'Leary, David Officer Replacing Tommy Hayes and Werner replacing Mat Powell.

The game just got faster, with no  drop in standards of play. Every single replacement making there mark making the statement "I am here so pick me the next game" Another try and two penalties completed the scoring with Worcester posting 21 points without reply.

Plymouth 17 : 43 Worcester

MATCH OBSERVATIONS

1.   We may not have had a full 80 minutes of  outstanding rugby, but we have now had 60. It was all coming together here at Plymouth. This was a great team effort when it all started to fit together.

2.   What a pleasure once again to visit Plymouth Rugby Club. We were all well looked after, well fed and well watered. we had some great banter out on the terraces, still not sure who was "paying the ref".  The camaraderie in the numerous bars was reminiscent of times years ago in the Army, real friendship, Thankyou Plymouth

3.   The majority of clubs in this division are just as supportive and friendly to visiting fans, this said 1 or 2 need to learn the art of good grace.

4.   Plymouth are a good team who will consolidate this year and if they can develop their facilities will become the new force in West Country rugby as they were for many years before.

5.   We now have a conundrum who will play at center. Hayes and Trueman are finding a great relationship. Ben Hinshelwood will have to re-establish himself, on yesterdays display it is not a guarantee with the returning Duncan Roke where he will play or if.

6.   The forwards now are a real threat to any team in this division, they look mean and powerful. To day we saw the England style pick up and drive from the ruck and it looked good sucking in the defenders before releasing Brown's Marauders.

7. Not normally mentioned in these reports, but the support yesterday was fantastic. It was loud, it was constant, it was incredible to be part of it, worth every mile down the motorway. Come on all you others, come and have the time of your life, "COME AND SUPPORT THE WARRIORS"

8.   Bring on the next game quick!

With The Bees beating Wakefield they will now have to fit in 3 extra games two more cup games and yesterdays league postponement.

We are now 5 points clear of Orrell and 8 points clear of Bees.

We the supporters now need to be at every game to give our absolute support to these fantastic WARRIOR'S
